Dr. Francis Blay, CEO of Omni Strategies, attended the Nordic-Ghana Entrepreneurship and Innovation Dialogue meeting of Foreign Ministers from Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Finland at the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) in Accra. The stage provided a platform for several Ghanaian entrepreneurs from diverse industries using various skills, including technology, to deliver impact-oriented solutions that resonate domestically and internationally while creating job opportunities. The discussion aligned with the visiting party’s two-country (Ghana and Nigeria) trip focused on finding joint solutions in the following areas: global security and multilateral cooperation; trade and investments; climate change and the green transition; and regional security developments.
Given Europe’s ageing demographics compared to Africa’s youthful population, the conversation centred on utilising the latter’s advantages and fostering collaborations that can lead to more local job creation while addressing global challenges. The necessity for Africa’s European partners to look at the hurdles around access to finance by ”derisking investment in Africa” was stressed by H.E. Mr. Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Foreign Minister of Denmark.
While taking a tour of the facilities to view some of the DTI students’ designs, Dr. Francis Blay offered suggestions on how the trainees might enhance the products’ ergonomics and presentation to provide them with a worldwide competitive edge and scalability. In addition, he threw down the gauntlet to use the innovation to strengthen communal bonds in farming communities, for example.
